Only 5 of the 115 California Community Colleges (<5%) have professionally-staffed LGBTQ+ resource centers. For points of comparison, all but one of the University of California and nearly half of California State University campuses have LGBTQ+ resource centers.

- Provide safe campus spaces for anyone regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity/presentation, ethnic heritage or cultural background.
- Provide a safe place for students and employees coming out to find peers and support.
- Provide a confidential place for trans* individuals to use new gender pronouns.
- Publicly affirm a college's commitment of support - and efforts to achieve equity - for LGBT+ students and employees.
