Advisory Committee
Only a few of the 114 California Community Colleges have an LGBT Advisory Committee. These committees are generally comprised of faculty, staff, students, and administrators. Board of trustees and community members would also add valuable insight.
In June 2014 the University of California system, at the behest of President Janet Napolitano, created a systemwide advisory council comprised of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and outside experts in LGBT issues. Implementation of recommendations by the advisory council began in September 2014. In addition, some California State University campuses, such as Long Beach, have advisory committees.
