All Gender Restrooms

All gender (also known as gender neutral) restrooms are useful for many different types of individuals needing additional privacy. This includes transgender and gender non-conforming individuals concerned about their safety. All gender restrooms should be designed as part of all new facilities and should be worked into plans to update existing facilities. Locations should be listed on a publicly accessible website.

In addition to a web directory of locations, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas also includes the following useful statement about the importance of gender neutral bathrooms: "Gender Neutral Bathrooms are facilities that can be used by all gender identities and expressions. These bathrooms can benefit many different people including those assisting persons requiring an attendant, parents with differently gendered children, and transgender and gender nonconforming persons. In particular, gender-neutral bathrooms are a way to provide a safer space for trans and gender non-conforming students, faculty, staff, and community members of UNLV.
